A day trip from Fes to Chefchaouen

A shared day trip leaves Bab Boujloud in Fes at 8:00 AM, gives you about four hours in Chefchaouen and brings you back the same evening. Pick it if you're already in Fes: it's the lowest-priced way into the Blue City on this site, and you keep your Fes hotel.

Day Trip from Fes to Chefchaouen

About this experience

This is transport with a free afternoon. All Morocco Tour meets you at the Hotel Bab Boujloud, by the Blue Gate of the Fes medina, at 8:00 AM. The vehicle drives north into the Rif, with a few stops on the way, and gives you about four hours in Chefchaouen before the ride back. The whole day takes about nine hours.

Only the vehicle is included. There's no guide in Chefchaouen, no lunch and no tickets, so the price stays low. Four hours is enough for the medina, the main square Outa el Hammam, the kasbah (about 60 dirhams) and the Ras el Maa spring if you keep moving. For a guide, book the 2-hour walking tour and time it for your arrival. Our Chefchaouen guide has a route for a short visit.

Two caveats. Getting to Bab Boujloud from the far side of the medina is a hassle: one guest paid extra for a pickup at Bab R'cif. And the drivers drive. If you want commentary on the way, this isn't that.

We used this trip primarily to travel between Fes and Chefchaouen. [...] Once the trip was underway the driver was helpful and got on with the business of safe driving.

Tips before you book

  • Staying near Bab R'cif or the far side of the medina? Allow time to reach Bab Boujloud, or arrange a pickup and expect to pay extra.
  • Bring cash in dirhams for lunch and the kasbah. Chefchaouen is small and cash goes further.
  • One guest suggests speaking up early if the air conditioning is too weak or too cold.
  • You can use it one way: one reviewer rode it just to get from Fes to Chefchaouen. Ask the operator first.
